An organization can close thousands of findings while leaving its most consequential exposure untouched. Prioritization requires a view of the asset, the reachable attack path and the business service at risk. Volume alone is a weak measure of progress.
01 / UNDERSTAND
The business issue
CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog identifies vulnerabilities with evidence of exploitation. It is a useful prioritization input, not a complete inventory of all risk and not proof that an unlisted weakness is safe.

DECISION INTO ACTION
Validate the exposure
Confirm the affected version, reachability and service owner. Check whether the vulnerable component is actually in the deployed path before escalating or dismissing the finding.
Validate the exposure
Confirm the affected version, reachability and service owner. Check whether the vulnerable component is actually in the deployed path before escalating or dismissing the finding.
Choose an interim boundary
When immediate remediation is unsafe, evaluate restrictions or isolation with the service owner. Record the remaining exposure and an expiry for the temporary measure.
Prove closure
Verify remediation on the running asset and test the dependent service. A closed ticket without technical confirmation should not be counted as risk removed.
Ask the leadership teamWhich open finding exposes the most important service, and what prevents action?
03 / VERIFY
What to measure
Establish your baseline and agree targets for the service. These are suggested measures, not claimed results.
Exposed exploited weaknesses
Applicable known-exploited findings on reachable critical systems.
Exception duration
Time temporary mitigations remain in place.
Verified closures
Remediations independently confirmed on deployed assets.

How Genellipse helps
GeneSecure
GeneSecure can help combine security findings and asset context for risk review. Genellipse works with operations to create a prioritization approach that respects availability and maintenance constraints.
Explore GeneSecureGeneComply
GeneComply can hold remediation commitments, approved exceptions and closure evidence. The result is a traceable decision about residual exposure rather than a backlog managed only by ticket count.
Explore GeneComplyUse the next maintenance window to retire a specific business exposure and verify that the service still works.
