Start with the outcome your customer came to achieve

A completed transaction is not always a completed customer journey.

UNDERSTAND THE CHALLENGE

The business issue

Growth becomes fragile when a business optimizes conversion without understanding what happens after the sale. A customer may purchase successfully and then struggle to activate, use or obtain support for the service. The organization needs a view that connects acquisition with the outcome promised.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

01

Define completion from the customer’s perspective

Describe what the customer can do when the journey succeeds. Include the information, confidence and access required to use the service. Test this definition with representative customers. A submitted form may be an internal milestone, while the customer still has no usable product or clear next step.

02

Connect acquisition and service evidence

Follow the journey across marketing, onboarding and support. Keep customer permissions and access boundaries intact when connecting records. Look for recurring questions after apparently successful transactions. These questions can reveal where the sales experience creates expectations that the operating process cannot meet.

03

Assign an owner to the whole outcome

Give a business owner responsibility for resolving gaps between departments. Review success alongside subsequent effort, complaints and early cancellation. Make improvements where the evidence shows difficulty. Sustainable growth requires an experience the organization can deliver repeatedly, rather than a promise that depends on exceptional staff intervention.

FROM DISCUSSION TO ACTION
